What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is a broad category of activities that are designed to provide amusement and diversion for an audience. It may incorporate elements of humor, drama, suspense or spectacle. Entertaining can help relieve the stresses of daily life and can also introduce new ideas or perspectives. Entertaiment can also serve to connect people, whether it be through familiar forms such as movies, music or sport. The word entertainment derives from the Medieval Latin intertenere (“to hold inside”), based on the Indo-European root ten, which means to stretch. SU2C, the Science Undertaking to Cure Cancer, is an example of an entity that is focused on entertaining and supporting our societal needs.
