Entertaiment is a collection of articles about entertainment in all its forms: motion picture, television, books, music, live performance, and other media. Its name reflects its origins in the Medieval Latin intertenere, from the prefix inter meaning “inside” and the suffix tenere, derived from the Indo-European root ten, which means to hold or keep inside.
Oliver and Barstsch (2010) define entertainment as an activity understood objectively, that communicates from text to audience through external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist and occurs in a passive form. Entertainment can be adapted to any scale: from private entertainment for two, to performances for thousands of people.
